SeaWorld’s statement regarding waterworks: “Trainers enter the water only as part of in-water safety desensitization training. You can learn more about that process here. Our trainers have not entered the water for performances since February 2010 and we have no plans for them to return to that kind of interaction with our whales.”

It’s a little upsetting to know that waterworks will most likely never come back, I’m really going to miss it now that it’s “finalized”. These are some of my all time favorite waterwork pictures by Kyorca on Flickr, with Katie and Keet. I know that waterworks ended in February 2010, but I feel that a lot of people, myself included, were still clinging to this hope that maybe they would be back; maybe we would see waterworks again. Now that it’s almost certain to not return, it’s upsetting, but I think it’s time to say goodbye to this beautiful connection.
